How Do Invisalign Braces Work?

Invisalign is an orthodontic solution that
straightens teeth without being glued to the teeth with supportive wires.
Invisalign is a single unit brace that covers your teeth, applying gentle
pressure to pull them into a proper position. It is custom made to specifically
cater to every tooth, forming a decent alignment altogether. Since it is clear
and removable, youths are much more comfortable adjusting to it without fearing
prominence.

How Is the Invisalign Process Started?

The oral installation of Invisalign in Chicago is a simple
process in which your orthodontist conducts a physical examination as well as x
rays to determine if invisalign is the right one for you. He/she then creates a
personalized plan using a 3D impression of your teeth. The plan is a treatment
plan that focuses on how your teeth will be moved and the length of time
involved. The impression of your teeth, along with other x-ray reports, are
then forwarded to a laboratory, where experts craft customized invisalign
aligners.

How Do Invisalign Braces Correct Teeth?

Once the custom aligners are ready to be given
to you, your orthodontist will have you pay a visit and demonstrate how to fit
and remove them from your mouth. You will be asked to try them on for a day and
then come back for any adjustments needed. Aligners are worn all day except
when brushing, flossing and maintaining routine hygiene. You remove them while
eating and wear them again once you have cleaned your teeth. Aligners can also
be worn during sleep.

Invisalign aligners are designed to easily fit
for the sake of comfort and convenience. Each set of aligners is worn for a
certain period of time and then they are upgraded to a different one.
Typically, you wear your aligners for two weeks and then have them replaced by
your orthodontist. You’ll notice that at first the aligners appear tight and
cause slight pain. But as days pass, they start feeling a bit loose. This is
because your teeth shift to a new position, allowing for the aligners to fit
loosely. During this period, you will keep your aligners on throughout the day,
until you visit your orthodontist again. By making sure your aligners are worn
even if they feel less tight, you’ll allow your teeth and gums to become
accustomed to new changes with regards to their alignment.

Depending on your treatment plan, you will
have an appointment with your orthodontist every couple of weeks (usually every
4 or 6 weeks). Your orthodontist will keep track of your progress and ensure
he/she makes any adjustment needed to your aligners. It is important to keep up
with the routine visits, as it can determine how long your overall treatment
can take to complete. Missing appointments can often result in delaying your
progress.
